Feel Flows
"Feel Flows" is a song written by Carl Wilson and Jack Rieley for American rock band the Beach Boys. It was released on their 1971 album Surf's Up.[1][2][3]
Recording
Carl Wilson's lead vocals were recorded using reverse echo.
Use in media
- In 2005 it appeared on a compilation album of music that has inspired the Welsh indie-psychedelic pop band the Super Furry Animals titled Under the Influence.
- In 2000, movie director Cameron Crowe used this song in the Grammy award winning Almost Famous soundtrack, and it played during the end credits of the film. Use of the song in the film may be indirectly attributed to Crowe's then-wife Nancy Wilson of Heart (no relation to the Beach Boys' family). In a syndicated "Guest DJ" 1 hour radio program that aired nationally in 1982, Nancy Wilson played it as one of her selections and offered high praise for the song. [4]
Samples
- Madonna's song "Swim" from the album Ray of Light uses the bass line/guitar solo of "Feel Flows" throughout the song, more prominently in the beginning and the end. However, this is not considered a cover of the song and none of the Beach Boys are credited in the liner notes of the Ray of Light album.
