Fazlul Halim Chowdhury

Professor Fazlul Halim Chowdhury (1 August 1930 9 April 1996) was a fellow of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences[1] and the longest-serving Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University in Bangladesh. Professor Chowdhury made pioneering contributions to the development of Physical chemistry in Bangladesh, having published over 20 articles. He focused on cellulose fibers (especially jute), polyelectrolytes, and proteins.

Family

Chowdhury was born on 1 August 1930 to a respectable family of Chauddagram Upazila. His father was Abdul Aziz Chowdhurywas, a graduate from Aligarh Muslim University, and an educationist who served as a teacher at Government High School and later as an school inspector. Professor Chowdhury's mother was Afifa Khatun, a woman committed to the cause of education, and widely known in Chouddagram.
