Farm to Market Road 457, or FM 457, is a farm to market road, a state maintained road which serves to connect rural and agricultural areas to market towns, in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located in Matagorda county. The route is 27.8 miles long.
Route description
The road begins at SH 35 1 mile east of Bay City. It goes east through the towns of Caney and Cedar Lane, and then turns southward. The road goes through Hawkinsville and Sargent before its southern terminus at the Gulf of Mexico.[1] The route is also known as the Sergeant Joe Parks, Jr. Memorial Highway.[2]
History
FM 457 was originally designated in 1945 from SH 35 to Gainesmore. In 1946, it extended to a road intersection southeast of Sargent. In 1952, it extended southeast 4.4 miles to the Gulf of Mexico, replacing Texas State Highway 330.
