Academic Emphasis on Learning

Fallsburg's educational mission is one of excellence, which prevails throughout its many district programs. Excellence is achieved by creating a supportive environment in which children can learn. These schools serve a multi-cultural community of approximately 20,000 in the areas of Fallsburg, South Fallsburg, Glen Wild, Greenfield Park, Hurleyville, Loch Sheldrake, Mountaindale, Woodbourne and Woodridge.

The district promotes community participation through shared decision making, outreach and mentor programs, and the development and implementation of a comprehensive district education plan. The District is guided by the superintendent, and a board of education consisting of nine community members elected to three year terms. The Board's intent is to prepare individuals to develop their fullest potential for living in the society of today and tomorrow. The Board recognizes their responsibility to help meet the physical, intellectual and emotional needs of children; particularly the needs to inquire, learn, think, and create; to establish aesthetic, moral and ethical values; and to relate satisfactorily to others in social situations involving family, work, government and recreation.[2]
