Fairland High School is a public high school in Proctorville, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Fairland Local School District. Their nickname is the Dragons. The Principal is Chad Belville, Jonathan Bradley, the Vice Principal, retired after the 2013-2014 school year.

History

Fairland High School was formed in 1949 as a consolidation of Proctorville High School and Rome Rural High School. From 1949-1956, students attended school at the former Rome Rural HS. In 1956, a new building was opened adjacent to the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, hence the name "Fairland", and would remain the district's high school until 2002. In 2003, the current building opened and the 1956 building was renovated and transformed into Fairland Middle School.

Colors and mascot

The school colors, green and white, as well as the mascot, the dragon, were picked by students from Proctorville and Rome schools.

Alma Mater & Fight Song

Alma Mater

The Fairland Alma Mater is to the tune of "O Danny Boy"

Oh, Fairland High, you hold so many memories,

We will look back and hold you high above.

In green and white is where we hold our loyalties,

Oh, Fairland High, it's you we love.

For many years our lives are lived within your walls,

We spend time learning, making friendships too.

The things we learn forever will go with us all,

Oh, Fairland High, oh, Fairland High, we do thank you!

Fight Song

The Fairland High School Fight Song, is to the tune of "The Washington & Lee Swing."

The boys and girls of Fairland fall in line,

For we are out to win another time.

We're not afraid to work as all can tell,

And for our dear old school we yell, we yell, we yell.

We're gonna fight, fight, fight for victory,

And raise our banners high so all can see,

Our school is good enough for you and me, Fairland High,

Rah! Rah! Rah!
