FIRE.inc.

FIRE.inc. was an Icelandic independent record label run by Heimir Björgúlfsson between 1993 and 2003.

History

FIRE.inc. started as a collective of four bands who put on a couple of concerts together at a small run down basement space of a building complex called Hlaðvarpinn in downtown Reykjavík, Iceland, the same space is now a luxury Spanish Tapas Restaurant. The bands Stilluppsteypa, Curver, Púff and Kolrassa Krókríðandi managed to gather enough funds from the concerts that they decided to put out a compilation release. The "F.I.R.E." CD was released late 1993.

In autumn 1993 FIRE.inc. also began organizing concerts in Iceland for bands from abroad, the first being the Scottish, Dutch based, band Dog Faced Hermans. Between 1994 and 1996 further bands played under the FIRE.inc. banner in Iceland, such as God is my Co-Pilot from New York, Dawson from Scotland, Keuhkot and Radiopuhelimet from Finland and Spaceheads from England.

Since 1994 the label fell into the sole hands of Heimir Björgúlfsson of Stilluppsteypa who directed it towards a more experimental direction. He moved the label to The Netherlands in 1997 and took up a manufacturing and distribution deal with Staalplaat in Amsterdam which lasted until the label was put to rest in 2003.
