Ewan Brodie

Ewan Brodie is a fictional character in the BBC Scottish drama TV series Monarch of the Glen. Ewan is played by Scottish actor Martin Compston.

Ewan is a teenage 'girl-charmer' who is first seen in Monarch of the Glen imitating Elvis Presley behind Paul Bowman. He is then discovered by Golly Mackenzie and his daughter Jess kissing a girl and breaking down a fence. Ewan goes to work with Paul at the Activities Centre, then cooks the family a lovely meal. Ewan gets a job at the Ghillie's Rest but is sacked after Lady Dorothy's comments about Ewan's food. Ewan lets pigs loose in Lady Dorothy's house, and then gets a job at Glenbogle House as chef. During Hogmanay, Ewan flirted with Becky Body, but she did not flirt back. But eventually she took a fancy to him. Ewan set up an illegal radio station called Rob Roy Radio, and was caught hosting it by Tony Parker and Sheriff Joe Reavey, but Ewan played a scandalous speech by Reavey on Rob Roy Radio and got his radio station legalised. Ewan became good friends with the elderly Donald MacDonald in series six. And also took a fancy to the Ghillie's Rest bairdmaid Zoƫ. Ewan was technically the reason why Duncan McKay became a radio DJ as when Donald ran over Ewan's foot, Ewan could not climb up the stairs to his broadcasting room, so he let Duncan do one of the shows where he found his love and talent for DJ-ing. Ewan went out with Isobel Anderson's friend Kelly McGee. Ewan was distraught when he found that his dad, Ray Brodie, was cheating on his mum, Ros, with a woman called Liza, but he eventually got over it when Ros revealed she was fine with her ex-husband's relationship. Ewan became good friends with Jess towards the end of series six, whilst creating lots of mischief with Donald, including dancing, shooting poachers, chasing the army and finding World War II planes in the loch.
