Evil Night (イブル・ナイト) (also known as Hell Night) is a light gun arcade game, produced by Konami and released in the arcades in 1998. This was another attempt of Konami making a survival horror-themed light gun shooter game at the arcades, after releasing Crypt Killer, which was produced 3 years earlier. The game is known for running off the Konami M2 3DO hardware, which was a short-lived arcade board using the Panasonic M2 game console that only had a few games produced on the board.

Plot

The story follows of a girl named Liv that has been kidnapped and taken to a haunted house. Three cops named Henry Jones, Alicia Sevigny and Joe Hamilton enter the house in an attempt to save her, facing various creatures and the undead. There are also secrets which add on to the storyline of the game.

Gameplay

Evil Night is a first person perspective light gun shooter that involves shooting zombies and other creatures in a similar manner as Sega's The House of the Dead. It is a 3-player game like Crypt Killer, but with some differences. Players 1 and 3 are equipped with pistols that can be charged (by pointing the barrel up) to fire more powerful penetrating bullets for taking out groups of enemies. Player 2 is equipped with a shotgun which covers a wider range.

When enemies attack a player, they will lose a health icon. When all health icons are gone, the player(s) will have a timed chance to continue.

Players can find special items, such as keys and first-aid kits, hidden in destructable objects. Shooting doorknobs off of some doors or locks on gates will open new branching paths through the levels. There are multiple endings which depend on the players's skill levels.
