Everyday carry

EDC example

Everyday carry (EDC) or every day carry refers to a small collection of items that are carried on a consistent basis to assist in dealing with normal everyday needs, to emergency situations. The type and quantity of items that a person can EDC may vary widely; there are no set rules concerning what items one can include in his or her EDC, it is entirely situational. Some may choose to only carry a minimal amount of items, while others may decide to carry more items of their choosing.[1]

While some simple EDCs can be distributed efficiently among pockets in everyday clothing, for many people the ideal selection of gear is at odds with the way they prefer to dress. For that reason, carry options are frequently expanded by the addition of clothing accessories like a fanny pack, purse, small day pack, or even footwear like long boots or a vest with pockets. The multiple large pockets of cargo pants make them a popular choice among people who carry EDC items.[2]
