Evansville Christian School, also known as ECS, is a private, Christian school with several locations throughout the Evansville, tri-state area in Southwestern Indiana.

History

Evansville Christian School was founded in 1975. In 1990, it incorporated as a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation with an independent board of directors. In 2002, the school started its second campus serving Evansville's Northside. Over the years, ECS has experienced a significant increase in activities, athletics, and enrollment, with approximately 600 students in full time enrollment as of 2011.

ECS is fully accredited by the Indiana Department of Education, the Association of Christian Schools International, and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Grounds and Location

ECS' "East Campus", serving PK-8th grade students, is located on Lincoln Avenue inside Bethel Temple Community Church. The "North Campus", serving K-2nd grade students, is located on Millersburg Road inside Christian Fellowship Church. The "Newburgh Campus, serving K-2nd grade students, is located on Highway 261 inside First Christian Church. The school has access to several soccer fields located on the grounds of Crossroads Christian Church.

Curriculum

Evansville Christian School is structured in teams across both facilities to meet the needs of Pre-Kindergarten (full-day), Kindergarten (half- and full-day), Elementary School (1st-4th grade), Intermediate School (5th and 6th grade), and Middle School (7th and 8th grade) students. ECS operates a departmentalized format for grades 5-8.

The school's curriculum is aligned with the Indiana Academic Standards[1] integrated with Biblical principles. In addition to traditional courses, ECS’ curriculum includes Bible, phonics-based reading, 4-block literacy, Accelerated Reading, technology, media services/library, music, band, art, physical education, drama, speech/debate, and Spanish.
