The 16th Eurovision Young Musicians final was held in Vienna, Austria on May 11, 2012, during the Vienna Festival. Candidates representing each participating European Broadcasting Union (EBU) member state participated in the semi-final. Out of these candidates the seven best were selected by an international jury to perform live as finalists in the show at the Rathausplatz on 11 May 2012.

Solo candidates, aged under 20 in the year of the competition, represented each participating European Broadcasting Union (EBU) member state, in a preliminary Semi-Final. The Semi-Final round was held on 5 and 6 May 2012.[3] Out of these candidates, the 7 best were selected by an international jury to perform live as finalists in the show at the Rathausplatz.

The finalists were accompanied by the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, under the leading of the young German conductor Cornelius Meister.[4]

Participating countries

This year, 14 countries participed in the Eurovision Young Musicians.[6] Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia made their debut at the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition.

The semifinal was held in two parts. The first part was held on May 5, 2012 and the second on May 6, 2012. The 7 best were selected by an international jury to perform live as finalists in the final that was held on May 11, 2012.

Final

Awards were given to the top three countries. The table below highlights these using gold, silver, and bronze. The placing results of the remaining participants is unknown and never made public by the European Broadcasting Union.[27]
