Eurosat is an enclosed roller coaster at Europa-Park and has been opened 1989 at French area of the park.

Facts

Eurosat is the oldest roller coaster at Europa-Park, which is powered by gravity. It is located within a 45 meters (148 ft) high geodesic dome, which is a famous landmark of the park. As well as Euro-Mir, Eurosat was built by Mack Rides. The ride (including way up) lasts 3:30 minutes and has a maximum speed of about 60 km/h (37 mph). Eurosat is equipped with seven trains composed of 8 cars, each of them to sit two persons and has a maximum capacity of 1600 persons per hour. Due to reasons of security only six of the seven trains are in use simultaneously.

Theming

Eurosat is situated at the French area of the Park, and is concerned with spaceflight. On special occasion the dome is decorated. During the Christmas period, an during anniversary seasons the dome gets a giant ribbon. While the 2006 FIFA World Cup the sphere has been decorated as the world's largest soccer ball and round Halloween the dome looks like a giant pumpkin and is renamed as Pumpkin Coaster[1][2]

Soundtrack

Since 2000 the sound during the ride is a techno piece called "In a 2nd Orbit" of the group Stark Fader. At the end of the lift hill a countdown starts and ends with zero, when the first car leaves the lift. The text of the countdown is: "Ten, nine, ignition sequence starts, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero. All Engines running!" and is similar to an extract of the countdown of Apollo 11 mission.[3] During the Christmas period the countdown is changed into: "Hier spricht der Weihnachtsmann! Ho ho ho! Das ist doch verrückt … Sattelt die Rentiere!" ("This is Santa Claus! Ho ho ho! This is really crazy... Saddle the reindeer!").
