The Euphrates Volcano (Arabic: بركان الفرات, burkān al-furāt) is a joint operations room that was established during the Syrian Civil War. The group seeks to "expel" the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant from Raqqa Governorate.[1] The YPG has started to train FSA affiliated members of the group.[5] Although the Raqqa Guardians Rebels and the Jihad in the Path of God Brigade were mentioned as being part of the operations room,[2] they released statements indicating that they were not affiliated with it.[6] The Jihad in the Path of God Brigade later joined the operations room.[7]
