Essen-Nordviertel
The Nordviertel is the most northern borough of the city district Stadtbezirk I Stadtmitte/Frillendorf/Huttrop.
Geography and Demographics
Nordviertel has 7,308 inhabitants and is therefore one of the smallest boroughs of Essen. It has a surface of 2.86 km² and lies on an average height of 48 metres over the sealevel. The biggest part exists of residential cultivation. Native country has become the Nordviertel of the Universität Duisburg-Essen. There where the university stands, was earlier the independent borough Segeroth.
In the Nordviertel is also the Bamler Servicepark with approximately 3000 workplaces and the Kaufpark Bamlerstraße with approximately 250 workplaces.
Trivia
- Through this borough only one bus, two U-Bahn and one tramline (196, U11, U17 and 106 by the EVAG) goes.
- Scene became the Nordviertel in the film Manta – Der Film.
- BMW has there one of the biggest branches in Germany.
- In the Assmannweg is the old Jewish cemetery of the city located.
