Ernst Mahler (1887-1967) was an Austrian chemist and administrator of paper companies, in particular the Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Wisconsin. He was instrumental in the foundation of the Institute of Paper Science and Technology.

Early life and education

Mahler was born in Vienna, Austria in 1887, and was raised around paper chemists. He went to Darmstadt, Germany to attend the famous Technische Hochschule de Darmstadt, and studied industrial chemistry, specializing in cellulose chemistry and the science of papermaking. He graduated with distinction in 1912.[1][2]

Awards and memberships

In 1996, Mahler was named to the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame.[2]
