Erin Grace Willett (born May 1, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter from Gaithersburg, Maryland.[1] She was a semifinalist on Season 2 of The Voice on NBC.[2] She came in second place on Blake Shelton’s team, to the eventual winner, Jermaine Paul. Willett currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
Early life
Willett began singing in the children’s choir and later the youth band at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Rockville, Maryland.[3] Her father, Chuck Willett, joined the band and played guitar. In 2005, Willett was one of 45 Girl Scouts selected to record “Girl Scout’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 7: We are Family” under the direction of Melinda Caroll.[4] Willett graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 2007. She was a cheerleader captain and was voted class clown.[5]
Willett graduated from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY in 2011, majoring in Marketing with a music minor.[6] She participated in the a cappella singing group, Sigma’Cappella, Music Entertainment Industry Student Association (MEISA) and participated in the Hofstra University Women’s Football Rugby Team.
Music career
Willett joined Duck and Drake Records in April, 2011.[7] She moved to Brooklyn, NY after graduating from college and began performing her original music and covers in music venues in the New York City area. She attended an open call audition for The Voice (U.S. season 2) in July, 2011 at the Izod Center.
Personal
Erin's father, Chuck Willett, was in the band The Newports in the 1960s. Chuck died from pancreatic cancer in December, 2011. Erin's brother, James Willett, is in the Washington, DC straight edge hardcore band Coke Bust.
