Born Stockholm, Sweden
Occupation Writer, director, producer

Erika Lust is a Swedish screenplay writer, director, producer and author. She lives and works in Barcelona.[1]

Background

Lust holds a BA in political sciences from the Lund University with a specialization in human rights and feminism.[2] At this time she had her first encounter with the work of Linda Williams, particularly the 1989 essay Hard Core: Power, Pleasure, and the Frenzy of the Visible, which strongly influenced her stance as a filmmaker. After graduation, in 2000, she moved to Barcelona. After working in theaters, she founded the video production company Lust Films, specializing in feminist pornography. Her roles include screenplay writer, director and producer. The company has also published several books.[3]

Career

Her first work, the short film The Good Girl, was shot in 2004, just prior to founding Lust Films. This short film later was part of the feature film Five Hot Stories For Her, an anthology of five short explicit vignettes, that won several international awards: best screenplay at the International Film Festival 2007 in Barcelona (FICEB Award), the Venus-Eroticline -Award 2007 in Berlin, as well as the award for best film of the year, at the Feminist Porn Awards in Toronto (2008). The film was also mentioned honorably in the CineKink festival in New York (2008). In 2008 she shot the experimental film Barcelona Sex Project, which was shown at the Venus festival Berlin (2008), the CineKink in New York (2009) and X-Rated in Amsterdam (2009). In 2010, Life Love Lust, was released. Beyond that she shot two other short films, Handcuffs (2009), and Love me like you hate me (2010), both films dealing with fetish and BDSM. In 2011 Lust produced Cabaret Desire, her most awarded film to date.

Erika Lust's films are characterized by carefully cast actors and high standards of production in adult film. Erika Lust believes pornographic film can be an educational tool besides being pleasurable and can help us better understand our sexuality, to live more freely and naturally. In addition to shooting her own films, Erika is director of an online erotic cinema, where films from other authors of the new wave of explicit films are exhibited; she also maintains a blog and an online store, both focused on the female point of view of sexuality.

Currently, Erika Lust is working on her ongoing project XConfessions, the first crowdsourced project in the history of adult cinema. Each month, Erika releases two short films based on the anonymous confessions submitted to her website of the same name. She has already published three compilations of shorts: XConfessions vol. 1 (2013), XConfessions vol. 2 (2014) and XConfessions vol. 3 (2014).

Her book Good Porn was published in 2009 by Seal Press.[4]

XConfessions

Lust is currently producing short adult movies based on crowd-sourced stories[5] enabling viewers to see themselves in the clips and create a realistic and believable scenario. XConfessions has been presented at the Berlin Porn Festival 2014.[6][7]
