The Greek Catholic Eparchy of Saint Basil the Great of Bucharest is an eparchy of the Byzantine Rite of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Făgăraș și Alba Iulia.[1] The eparchy was erected by Major Archbishop Lucian Cardinal Mureșan with the consent of the synod of the Romanian Catholic Church and the Holy See.[2]

Territory

The jurisdiction of the eparchy comprises all Catholics of the Romanian Catholic Church residing within Bucharest and the historical regions of Dobruja, Muntenia and Oltenia. The territory was taken from archdiocese of Făgăraş and Alba Iulia.[3] The episcopal see and the cathedral of Saint Basil the Great (Sfântul Vasile cel Mare) is in the Romanian capital Bucharest.
