Enrique Alejandro de la Torre Millares (born February 7, 1997), professionally known as Enrique Alejandro, is an American actor.[1] He is best known for his roles in the films El Dibujo (2011), El Ultimo Leon (2012), Commercials: Unplugged (2014), and the hit Nickelodeon series Grachi. He currently plays Billy in the UniMás TV series Demente Criminal, based on the bestselling crime novel of the same name.[2] Alejandro can also be seen in the upcoming comedy series Pushy Riot.

Alejandro works with organizations his father is affiliated with such as UNESCO, UNICEF, and a nonprofit health and education program his father founded, focused on aiding poor communities in Nigeria and West Africa.[3]

Personal life

Born in Miramar, Havana, Cuba, to parents Enrique de la Torre and Caridad. His maternal grandfather was a cobbler of Spaniard ancestry. Alejandro moved to Mexico City, Mexico with his parents at the age of 1, and later emigrated to Miami, Florida, where he lived until 2014.

He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Artistic formation

Simultaneously with his technical preparation as an actor, he studied at the Robert Morgan Educational Center (specializing in Drama and TV Production), and went on to receive four uninterrupted years of training from Sebastián Ligarde under the Meisner technique.[4] He currently studies at the Joanne Baron / D.W. Brown Studio in Santa Monica, California (an off-shoot of The William Esper Studio in New York).

On June 30, 2006, Alejandro was certified with the rank of First Degree Black Belt in taekwondo by the American Taekwondo Association.

Film and TV career

Alejadro made his film debut as 'Luis' in El Ultimo Leon, directed by Franzis Müller.[5] After several massive auditions, the producers had not found the appropriate actor to star in the film. The casting director contacted Alejandro and he was asked to do a personal audition at Müller's residence, weeks before the film began shooting.

He went on to play the lead role of 'José' in the short film “El Dibujo”, directed by Norge Hernández Reyes, where he portrayed a young man with cerebral palsy.

In 2012, Alejandro landed a coveted spot in the highly acclaimed second season of the Nickelodeon teen drama Grachi. [6]

In 2014, Alejandro portrayed 'Sgt. Home' in Commercials: Unplugged, a film in which he played a sergeant that was supposed to take care of seniors in a nursing home, but did the complete opposite.[7]

In 2015, Alejandro can be seen in the UniMás TV series Demente Criminal as 'Billy'.[8] He can also be seen in the upcoming comedy series Pushy Riot.

Stage career

On September 2011, at 14 years of age, Alejandro made his stage debut as 'Alfredo' in Luis Harold Agurto's Al final de la cuerda, by Nicaraguan director Christian Ocón. At Area Stage at the Riviera Theatre in Coral Gables, Florida.[9]

On December 2011, Alejandro interpreted Ptolemy XIII, in Cleopatra. The Untold Story, directed by Miguel Sahid and José Gonzalez. At La Scala de Miami in Brickell Bay.[10]

Awards

On January 28, 2012, Alejandro was awarded the "Star of the Future" at the Miami Life Awards.[11]
