Engineering education in Taiwan
Engineering is one of the most popular majors among universities in Taiwan. The engineering degrees are over a quarter of the bachelor degrees in Taiwan. Because high-technology manufacturing is the main industry in Taiwan, there are many career opportunities for engineering majors in the country.

National Engineering Universities
- National Taiwan University : famous alumni of National Taiwan University include; Chang-Lin Tien, the 8th Chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley and Jin Au Kong, is a world renowned American magnetic engineer.
- National Chiao Tung University
- National Chung Cheng University
- National Tsing Hua University : famous alumni in engineering field include; Way Kuo, the current president of City University of Hong Kong and also IEEE Fellow. National Tsing Hua University is the university has the most alumni who awarded by Nobel Prize such as Yuan Tseh Lee, Chen Ning Yang, and Tsung-Dao Lee.
- National Cheng Kung University : In 2007, National Cheng Kung University had formed the Antigua Guatemala historical site protection group, which is the only University had enrolled an international architectural and civil engineering plan.
- National Central University : It built the tallest astronomical observatory in East Asia, which is Lulin Observatory. Famous alumni include Xiao-tong Lu who was the technical director of the Apollo program and involved in the exploration of Mars program of the United States.
