Empalot
Empalot is a French band formed in Landes, France, in 1998 by the hand of the Duplantier brothers of Gojira. The band members are: Laurentx Etxemendi on sax, Joe Duplantier on vocals and guitar, accompanying him on vocals Stéphane Chateneuf, Christian Maisonnave on percussion and Mario Duplantier on drums.
History
His musical intention was to create a type of rare experimental metal, which alternative metal, jazz fusion, avant-garde[1] and a touch of insanity accompanied by aggressive vocals of Joe Duplantier. Defined as "terroir metal" based on "letting go" and "mockery". His themes range from the modern myth of Chouniard up silly songs as love Évelyne, Jeannot, criticism of science or a struggle of the medieval period.
Tous aux Cèpes
Their only album, Tous aux Cèpes was recorded in the studio Arema Bordeaux, produced by Gabriel Editions, in the same label family created by Gojira. It can be compared to other similar bands like Psykup, Trepalium or Gronibard and inevitably find Gojira imprint on some issues.
Curiosities
- Empalot say in his biography that create so much joy and jubilation raised by Joseph Apesteguy Txikito de Cambo, Basque pelota player.
- There are misspellings on the album by the way, the group wanted it that way to magnify the ridicule.
- Joe and Mario Duplantier in the band call themselves: Venceslas Podaldo and Daniel Pestou respectively.
- The offbeat side of the group is also in appearance: an original and colorful work on stage show. In the few concerts offered have appeared with masks or axes and disguised as: cloud, flower, goat or a fund created by cardboard buildings, each concert was in a totally different and spectacular staging all for a music it really requires. The theatrical aspect was reinforced by the fact that the concert is sometimes mingled with mini-plays.
