Eminata Group
The Eminata Group is a for-profit provider of post-secondary education in Canada. The corporation, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, owns and manages a number of for-profit colleges and universities in Canada.
History
The background of the company dates back to 1961 when Reeves College was originally formed. It was incorporated in 1987 as Star Education Systems, the corporation changed its name to the Eminata Group in 2003. The company was led by President and CEO Randy Cox until November 2014.

K-12
- Star Education Centre providing assistance and tutoring services to encourage growth beyond basic skills for students from pre-kindergarten through to Grade 12. Using instructor-led and computer driven programs, Star Education Centre facilitators challenge students to develop deeper understandings of the concepts and skills offered in traditional school. Programs at Star Education Centre address short-term learning issues that will help students to achieve their long-term educational goals. [1]
Career Colleges
- CDI College, established for over 40 years, provides industry focused career training at campuses across Canada that allow students to learn from instructors with real-world experience and receive hands-on training, using many of the same tools and equipment used by professionals in their field. The college is accredited and licensed by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA) in BC, Alberta Advanced Education, Manitoba Advanced Education and Literacy – Private Vocational Institutes and the Ministry of Education, Leisure and Sports in Quebec. Specific programs are recognized by the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) and the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). It has campuses in: Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia; three in Calgary and four in Edmonton, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ajax, Scarborough, Mississauga, Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario; and Laval, Longueuil, Montreal, Pointe-Claire and Quebec City, Quebec. - Reeves College, one of Alberta’s oldest private career trainers. Established as Reeves Business College in Lloydminster, the school has specialized in training students for business and administrative careers since 1961. The college was often a source of employees for businesses in the community. Since joining the Eminata Group in July 2003, the college has expanded its curriculum to include vocational training in the health care sector and the oil and gas industry. In November of 2003, it opened a campus in Edmonton and the Calgary campus opened in 2005, followed by a second Calgary campus in 2007, and a Lethbridge campus opened in May 2008. [3]
- Vancouver College of Art and Design (VCAD), opened in the spring of 2009, in downtown Vancouver, offering creative programs with marketable learning outcomes. It offers applied arts courses in Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, 3D Modelling Animation Art & Design, Game Development and Design, Mobile Game Design and Development, and Marketing and Merchandising for Fashion. - Vancouver Career College, operating a network of six campuses in British Columbia - Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Abbotsford, Coquitlam, and Kelowna. It offers career training programs for careers in the fields of business, education, health care, hospitality, trades, and art and design.
- PCU College of Holistic Medicine in the Greater Vancouver region of BC, specializes in teaching Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and alternative health treatments. It originally offered courses in acupuncture and TCM in association with Vancouver Career College in Burnaby. In January 2004, it became a separate institution, equipped with an on-site TCM training clinic open to the public.
Universities
- University Canada West (UCAN) was established in 2004 as a private for profit Canadian university. It offers a new approach for students to obtain a university degree, with. Accelerated programs, based on market-driven curriculum and a flexible model of delivery.
