Emil Beier

The Military official of the Nazi regime in Ostrava

SS Sturmbannführer (Storm Unit Leader/Major) Emil Beier (born Setzdorf November 29, 1893: died Fulda May 12, 1985) was a German Nazi politician and Mayor of Ostrava, between 1940 and 1945 in Czechoslovakia during the Second World War occupation (1938–1945).

He was put into the place of Josef Hinner, who was deposed for being "too soft" on Czech officials. He also established the mining museum and expanded road communications. He wrote a book about Ostrava, Mährish Ostrau, published by the SS in 1942 in Prague. After the liberation, he was briefly replaced by Josef Lampa.
