Elvin Ng (Chinese: 黄俊雄; pinyin: Huáng Jùnxíong; born 23 December 1980) is a Singaporean actor and model with Mediacorp.
Career
Ng started off as a model with Elite Models Singapore, then Looque Models Singapore, and was one of the top male models on their roster. He began his career in acting in 2005 and received two nominations in the Star Awards 2006. Although he eventually lost the Most Popular Newcomer award to Kelvin Tan Weilian, he still managed to win an award for making the list of Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes. He won the Rocket Award for the biggest breakthrough at the Star Awards 2010 after making the "Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes" list three consecutive times and earning a Best Actor nomination for his acclaimed performance as a young man with autism in the blockbuster series Breakout.
Personal life
Ng was educated at Jurong Primary School, Catholic High School and National Junior College. He graduated with an honours degree in English Literature from the National University of Singapore,[1] where he wrote an honours thesis on carnivalesque in the female grotesque, in the works of Angela Carter and Frida Kahlo.[2] In his first three works from 2005 to 2006, Ng wore braces in the inside (lingual), which affected his ability to converse and articulate properly.

Ruivin
'Ruivin' is a term coined in 2009 after The Dream Catchers by fans of Rui En and Elvin Ng. Their fanclubs, RBKD and Elvinology respectively, have managed to win Ruivin the 'Favourite Onscreen Couple' award at Star Awards every time their pairings get nominated.
'Ruivin' is the ship name and official term for Elvin Ng and Rui En pairings coined by fans of their on-screen pairings. While Rui En has managed to win Top 3 for some of her other pairings, Ruivin is the only pairing in which she has won the 'Favourite Onscreen Couple' award at Star Awards. Although Elvin has been nominated for Star Awards for 'Favourite Onscreen Couple' award with other female actresses, he has only won the award with Rui En. After acting in five shows together and being paired romantically together for all five shows, they are very chummy with each other and Elvin often likes to tease Rui En, saying that since the fans support Ruivin, they should get together to make Ruivin happen in real life.
Out of the five shows they have acted in together, three of them were nominated for the Star Awards Favourite Onscreen Couple and Ruivin won all three nominations. They first won the award for Sato (Elvin Ng) and Lin Jiaqi (Rui En) in The Dream Catchers at Star Awards 2010. Subsequently, they won the award consecutively 2 times - the first at Star Awards 2012 for their roles as Song Yazai (Elvin Ng) and Ou Kelu (Rui En) in Code of Honour, and the second at Star Awards 2013 for their roles as Xie Langfeng (Elvin Ng) and Hu Xiao Man (Rui En) in Unriddle 2.
Controversies
Since Unriddle 2, Ng and Rui En has not been paired together, for unexplained reasons. This has caused an outcry as Ruivin is one of the most award-winning pairings in MediaCorp. Many Ruivin fans have expressed their disappointment in the absence of Ruivin pairings and have expressed their desire for Ruivin to be paired together again. Even the pair themselves, Ng and Rui En, have publicly announced their desire in a TODAY online interview to be paired together again.
