Ellerslie, Georgia

The Ellerslie Depot was originally built in 1891. The building has been restored. It is currently used as a community center and a town symbol.

Ellerslie is an unincorporated community in Harris County, Georgia, United States. Ellerslie is a part of the Columbus, Georgia metropolitan area.^[1] As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,544.^[2]

Geography

Ellerslie is located along Alternate U.S. Route 27 and Georgia State Route 85, which run northeast to southwest through the city, leading south 16 mi (26 km) to Columbus and north 52 mi (84 km) to Newnan. The two highways meet Georgia State Route 315 in the city to form a very short concurrency in the city limits. Atlanta is 81 mi (130 km) by road to the northeast. Ellerslie is approximately 722 feet (220 meters) above sea level. Ellerslie is located north of the fall line that separates Georgia into the Piedmont region and the Coastal Plains.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, Ellerslie was 88% White, 10% Black or African American, 2% Hispanic, and 0.08% Asian.
