Elizabeth Withstandley is an American artist and filmmaker from Cape Cod, Massachusetts who lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Her work is interdisciplinary including photography,[1] film,[2] and installation art. She is one of the co-founders of Locust Projects [3][4] a not-for-profit art space in Miami, Florida.

Her work has been featured at Museum of Contemporary Art [5] in North Miami, Florida; Oficina Cultural Oswald de Andrade in São Paulo, Brazil; Bass Museum of Art, Ringling Museum of Art, Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Nexus Contemporary Art Center, and the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York; Meyerhoff Gallery at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland; The Moore Space, Miami, FL [6] Galerie Valerie Cueto Paris, France Winslow Garage, Los Angeles [7] and the Torrance Art Museum.[8]
Artwork
Much of her work touches upon exaggerations of the common person in a day in age where the entertainment industry is the center of many people’s lives. The work explores self-worth, ones’ position in society, how we are defined as people with an emphasis on social norms and outcasts.[9]
