Elizabeth Murchison

Dr Elizabeth Murchison is Reader in Comparative Oncology and Genetics at the University of Cambridge.[1] Her research has focussed on the genetics of transmissible cancers, in particular the devil facial tumour disease.[2] She led a team of researchers who sequenced the entire Tasmanian devil genome.[3]

She grew up in Tasmania,[4] which is home to large carnivorous marsupials known as Tasmanian devils.[5]
