Elizabeth Futas

Elizabeth Futas (19441995) was the head of the University of Rhode Island, Graduate School of Library and Information Science from 19861995. She worked at the University of Rhode Island from 1986 to 1995. Earlier in her career, during the 1960s and 1970s, Dr. Futas worked as a cataloguer for the Ford Foundation in New York and as a reference librarian at Queens College. Before held faculty positions at Rutgers University, Emory University and the University of Washington in Seattle, among other institutions.[1] Her text on Collection Development is widely regarded.

The American Library Association offers an annual award to librarians in Futas' name.[2][3]
