Elias David Sassoon
Elias David Sassoon (27 March 1820 – 21 March 1880) Indian Merchant and Banker born in India, was the second son of David Sasson an Iraqi-Indian philanthropist Jewish businessman involved in trade in India and the Far East.
He was first of David Sasson to visit China in 1844 for Business branch opening and expansion. He was involved in his father business in Mumbai India. In 1867 Elias left his father’s business and to setup his own in Hong Kong and Shanghai.[1]
He was father of Jacob Elias Sassoon and Edward Elias Sassoon. Elias died at colombo in 1880
