Elements: An International Magazine of Mineralogy, Geochemistry, and Petrology, established in January 2005, is a bimonthly magazine, published by 17 scientific societies (see below). It publishes peer reviewed papers which are part of a theme based collection, along with other types of articles. The Principal Editors are Georges Calas (Université Pierre et Marie Curie), John W. Valley (University of Wisconsin), Patricia M. Dove (Virginia Tech). The focus of this magazine is broad coverage of the mineral sciences. Its circulation has grown to more than 16,000 subscribers per issue and its 5-year impact factor is 3.85.
Scope
Coverage includes invited peer reviewed papers for thematic collections. Each different thematic collection is the focus of a particular published issue. Proposed topics of interest are submitted to editors for review. The magazine also covers conference reports, policy news, as well as news of the Societies.
