Elelenwo is a primarily residential neighborhood and former village with minor commercial hubs located within the Obio-Akpor local government area in the metropolis of Port Harcourt.[1] The Neighborhood is home to a number of state owned media establishments including, Rivers State Television (RSTV) and Radio Rivers FM.[2][3]
It is bounded on the south by Eleme beyond which is Okirika Island, on the west by Ogigba and Woji beyond which is Trans Amadi; on the north by Oil Mil Market, beyond which is Rumukurushe, and on the east by Iriebe, beyond which lies the Oyigbo local governmental area.[1]
The neighborhood consists largely of mixed-income apartment buildings, public and privately owned estates, along with single-family homes of varying styles. Its only accessible police station is the Elelenwo Police Station.[4][5]
On April 15, 2007, it was reported an estimated seven police officers died during a raid on the Elelenwo and Mini Okoro police stations.[6]
