Elaphocordyceps is a genus of parasitic fungi within the family Ophiocordycipitaceae.[1] The genus was formally circumscribed by Sung and colleagues in 2007.[2] Various species were once included in Cordyceps (i.e., "Cordyceps ophioglossoides"), and then were moved to Ophiocordyceps (i.e., "Ophiocordyceps ophioglossoides") before this genus was formally established. Some species parasitize other fungi; in particular, E. ophioglossoides attacks species of the underground fungus Elaphomyces.[3]
