El Poble-sec

El Poble-sec (Catalan pronunciation: [əɫ ˌpɔbːɫəˈsɛk], Catalan for 'Dry village') is a neighborhood in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). The Poble Sec station of the Barcelona Metro is located in, and named after, this neighborhood.

At present the whole mountain of Montjuic that dominates the neighborhood of El Poble Sec formed into a whole landscape with green parks, museums, sports facilities and leisure areas is the largest expanse of recreation in the city. Following the planning policy of the City of Barcelona focused on the increased tourism, the neighborhood of El Poble Sec has suffered serious changes that are affecting their historical and architectural heritage and the lives of their neighbors who since 2013 have started protests to try to negotiate a sustainable tourism.
