El Norte

The Spanish phrase El Norte ("The North") may refer to any of the following places or things:

• El Norte (film), a 1983 motion picture directed by Gregory Nava.
• El Norte (Monterrey), a Mexican daily newspaper, published in the state of Nuevo Léon.
• El Norte (San Nicolás), an Argentine daily newspaper, published in Buenos Aires province.
• El Norte (Barcelona), a Venezuelan newspaper, published in the state of Anzoátegui.
• El Norte, a Spanish pop music band of the 1980s
• El Norte, the Latino gang in the television series Oz.
• El Norte, an album by the Gotan Project, a neo-tango group based in Paris.
• El Norte, the name of a cattle company in Jim Wells County, Texas

"El Norte" also is used commonly in Mexico and Central America to refer to the United States and Canada, which lie to the north.
