Eero Haapalainen
Eero Haapalainen (27 October 1880, Kuopio - 27 November, 1937 Petrozavodsk), was a Finnish Communist leader. He was born in Kuopio, in eastern Finland. His mother, Wilhelmiina, worked in Minna Canth's fabric shop, and his father, Aaro, was a carpenter.
Haapalainen fought in the Finnish Civil War. He was a columnist on the Tyƶmies newspaper, and later secretary of Helsinki's Workers Group. After the defeat of the Reds in 1918, he fled to the Soviet Union. He was executed during the Great Purge.
