Edwin Winter

Edwin Winter (born November 18, 1845) was president of Northern Pacific Railway in 1896 then president of Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company, Brooklyn Heights Railroad and allied companies.

He was born November 18, 1845, in Vermont.

Career

Entered railway service: 1867, since which he has been consecutively 1867 to 1870, Construction Department, Union Pacific Railroad; 1870 to 1873, contractor’s agent on construction, various railroads; 1873 to 1876, general claim agent, Chicago and North Western Railway; 1876 to 1879, general superintendent, West Wisconsin; 1879 to 1880, general superintendent, Chicago, St. Paul and Minneapolis Railroad; 1880 to 1881, general superintendent, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railroad; 1881 to November 16, 1885, assistant president; since June 6, 1888, director; November 16, 1885, to July 1896, general manager, same road; July 1896, to August 31, 1897, president, Northern Pacific Railway; September 1899, president, Chicago Transfer and Clearing Company at Chicago, Illinois; February 1902, president, Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company, Brooklyn Heights Railroad and allied companies.
