Edward "Ed" Lindsey is an American politician from the state of Georgia. He is a member of Georgia House of Representatives, representing the 54th district, and the Republican Party. Lindsey serves as the House Majority Whip.[1] Lindsey is running for the United States House of Representatives in Georgia's 11th congressional district, as Phil Gingrey is not running for reelection.[2]

Lindsey is a native Georgian. He graduated from Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. He earned a degree in History from Davidson College, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law. Lindsey and three partners started their own firm, Goodman McGuffey Lindsey & Johnson, LLP, in 1990.[3]

Legislative Accomplishments

Ed is best known for his work in the Georgia State House where he passed several conservative pieces of legislation over the last 10 years.

In 2014, Ed Lindsey passed the "Lindsey Amendment" which blocked Obamacares expansion into Georgia.[4]

In 2013, Ed Lindsey passed legislation strengthening Georgia's Right to Work Status against Labor Unions [5] and legislation which strengthened Georgia's Human Trafficking Laws.[6]

In 2012, Ed Lindsey co-wrote Criminal Justice Reform with Georgia Governor Nathan Deal [7] and Education reform which allowed for Charter Schools.[8]

In 2011, Ed Lindsey co-wrote stricter Illegal Immigration reform[9] and Ethics Reform.[10]

Ed Lindsey has also been behind over 30 other pieces of legislation in Georgia.[11]

Congressional Race

Ed Lindsey is currently running for the 11th district of Georgia's open U.S. house seat. In his campaign, he stresses his track record in the state house and the need for a "Proven Conservative Reformer" in Congress and has tried to differentiate himself by pushing his successes in the state house.[12]

Ed also has earned the support of several influential elected officials in his 2014 race including the Cherokee County Sheriff Roger Garrison, Bartow County State Rep. Paul Battles, Marietta Mayor Thunder Tumlin, and Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul.[13]
