Edward Richard Morrison Bye (born 1955, Hammersmith, London)[1] is a British film and TV producer and director. He is best known for his work with Grant Naylor, Harry Enfield and Jasper Carrott, and has worked with many of British TV's best known comedians and comedy actors. In June 2007 he took on the role of director for the long-planned, but still awaited, film Carry On London, replacing Peter Richardson.

Ed Bye attended Mount House School, Tavistock, Devon, in the late 1960s, where he was known as an excellent swimmer. He is married to Ruby Wax and has three children.

Bye's sister, Julia Canning, was killed on 6 May 2009 when one of her dogs pulled her onto the track of the London to Penzance railway line and she was struck by a high-speed train.[2]

In 2011 he co-founded the production company Tall TV with Tim Dawson and Susan Nickson.[3]
