Echoterra is a Symphonic Power Metal band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA founded in 2007 by Jonah Weingarten and Yan Leviathan.

History

Echoterra was formed in 2007 by Jonah Weingarten and Yan Leviathan in Minneapolis. The members spent the years on 2007 and 2008 writing songs for Echoterra's debut album "The Law Of One."

In 2008, Suvi Virtanen joined the band as the vocalist. The remainder of the line up was complete when Brian Hollenbeck joined the band on bass and vocals, and John Gensmer on drums.

In 2009, Echoterra spent mostly in the studio and the album was completed in the summer. On September 15, their debut album "The Law Of One" was then finally released in North America through Blinding Force Recordings and was available world wide via Amazon, CDBaby, iTunes, and other popular sites.

In late 2009, Suvi Virtanen left Echoterra and was replaced by Melissa Ferlaak who formerly sang in symphonic metal band Aesma Daeva and Austrian symphonic metal band Visions Of Atlantis on vocals and Adam Sagan replaced John on drums. In January 5, 2009, Echoterra's new EP "In Your Eyes" which was released with newly remastered songs. A change was needed in order to allow Echoterra the opportunities to perform live. With the new lineup in place, the band started to performed regularly starting in early 2010.

In 2011, the band went back into studio and started recording a new album called "Land Of The Midnight Sun," and was released on October 17, 2011 through Blinding Force Recordings.

On March 13, 2012, Melissa officially announced that she has left Echoterra.
