Easycore, also known as popcore, is a musical genre which emerged from the fusion of pop punk and melodic hardcore in the early 2000s, with later bands drawing further influence from metalcore. The typical characteristics of the genre include breakdowns, catchy choruses, gang vocals, singalongs and screamed or growled vocals. Easycore primarily combines the guitar-work and drum-work rooted in hardcore punk music (with a heavy reliance on double bass drumming) with the rapid rhythms commonly found in pop punk music.
The term was coined by the American pop punk band New Found Glory,[1][2][3] while more recent easycore bands include Four Year Strong, Set Your Goals, Me Vs Hero, City Lights, Carousel Kings, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk![4][5] and A Day to Remember.
In 2008, New Found Glory embarked on the "Easycore Tour" in the United States and Britain alongside bands such as Set Your Goals, Four Year Strong, A Day to Remember and Crime in Stereo.
