History

In 1962 the U.S. Agency for International Development – established by US president John F. Kennedy – summons the main business scholes to study the possibility of developing management and businesses programs on Latin America. This Project was trusted to Ernst Arbuckle, Dean of the Graduate School of Business of Standford University, he assumes the chalenge and group up a profesors team lead by Gail M. Oxley and Alan B. Coleman to evaluate in site the feasibility of undertaking this ambitious project. This is how on July 25 of 1963 the Peruvian and American government founded the “Escuela de Administración de Negocios para Graduados, ESAN” or “ESAN, Graduate School of Business” as known in english. It’s organization was trusted to the Standford Graduate School of Business and profesor Alan B. Colemanand shortly after a seminar on international high management was taught. A few month later ESAN opens and professionals from all Latin America apply for studying in the first full-time MBA in the Spanish-speaking world. The following year, on April 1st of 1964, the 1st promoton of the Magister program started classes. It has been 51 years since then, but the tone, style and spirit of American teachers who forged ESAN remains valid even these days in ESAN University.
