ERM Power is a diversified energy company that operates electricity sales, generation and metering, and gas production and exploration businesses.

Electricity Sales

ERM Power is licensed to sell electricity in all Australian states, the Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory,[1] and is the 4th largest seller of electricity by volume in the National Electricity Market.[2][3] ERM Power exclusively focuses on selling electricity to business customers and this segment of the market comprises approximately 12% of all customers and 70% of all electricity sold in Australia.[4]

Generation

ERM Power has equity interests in 497 megawatts[5] of low emission gas-fired power generation assets comprising 100%[5] of the 332 megawatt Oakey Power Station[6] and 50% of the 330 megawatt Neerabup Power Station.[2] ERM Power is one of Australia’s largest power development companies having led the development of more than 2,000 megawatts of power generation. Completed projects include: Oakey, Braemar 1 and Braemar 2 in Queensland; Uranquinty in New South Wales; and Kwinana and Neerabup in Western Australia.

Gas

ERM Power has two commercial gas discoveries and interests in more than 10,000 km² of gas exploration acreage across Australia. Exploration tenements include conventional gas, condensate, oil and shale gas prospects. ERM Power also holds strategic interests in other gas exploration companies.

History

ERM Power was founded by Trevor St Baker as a specialist Australian energy advisory firm in 1980. The company transformed into a power development company in the mid-1990s to capture opportunities arising from the deregulation of the Australian electricity industry. In 2007 the company diversified into gas exploration and electricity retailing in response to further privatisation and vertical integration of the Australian energy industry. ERM Power listed on the Australian Securities Exchange on 10 December 2010.[7]
