Duncan Enright

Duncan Shaw Thomas Enright is the Labour candidate for the Parliamentary constituency of Witney.

Political career

He was the unsuccessful Labour candidate for Henley in the 1997 General Election [1]but was successful in the West Oxfordshire Council election, 2012. He was first man to win a council seat in the east of Witney for Labour[2] and was picked as the candidate to face David Cameron in the 2015 general election.[3]

He leads the Labour group on West Oxfordshire District Council. He is also the Town Councillor for Witney East.

He was an Oxfordshire County Councillor, Oxfordshire County Council from 1993 until standing down in 1997. He is the son of Derek Enright, who was a Member of the European Parliament from 1979 to 1984 and then an MP from 1991 until his death in 1995.

Personal life

He lives on Newland with his wife, Sally-Ann, and three children, Katy, Lucy, and Tom, who are all at local schools (Sally-Ann teaches English at Wood Green). He has lived in Witney for 15 years. He has a degree in Physics from Oxford, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and was President of the Students Union at Wadham College.[4] He was the Vice Chair and Non-Executive Director, Ridgeway Partnership NHS Trust from 1998 to 2008.[5]

Publishing career

He has a career in scientific, professional and medical publishing, spending 20 years with Reed Elsevier companies including Pergamon Press, Butterworths and Elsevier. He was the publishing Director of British National Formulary Publications, Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and BMJ Group until summer 2013.[6] He now runs his own company, Evidence-based Networks.
