Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL), located in Jebel Ali, is one of the largest industrial companies in the UAE. Some 16.2% of its total workforce are UAE nationals.
DUBAL was incorporated pursuant to a Decree of the Ruler of Dubai, dated 5 May 1975. It is a corporation, wholly owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai. HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is DUBAL's Chairman.
DUBAL is currently ranked among the five largest global producers in the industry,[1] and is the largest single-site primary aluminium smelter in the world using pre-bake anode technology with a current production capacity of more than one million tonnes per annum.
Facilities
Raw materials, port and storage facilities
- Annual consumption of process materials: 1,956,000 tonnes of alumina, 300,000 tonnes of petroleum coke and 70,000 tonnes of coal tar pitch;
- Maximum vessel size for port facility: 75,000 tonnes;
Electric power generation
The power station is fired by indigenous natural gas.

Smelter complex
- Reduction plant with capacity of more than one million tonnes;
- Casthouses: 3, with a total of 27 furnaces;
- Carbon plant with capacity of 380,000 anodes/year.
Desalinisation plant
- Fresh water production capacity: 30 million US gallons (110,000 m3)/day
- Reservoir storage capacity: 10 million US gallons (38,000 m3)
