Dragan Marković (Serbian Cyrillic: Драган Марковић), born on May 2, 1960 in Končarevo, municipality of Svetozarevo (present-day municipality of Jagodina) May 2,1960 and commonly known as Palma ("palm tree"), is a Serbian politician and entrepreneur, currently serving as a member of the National Assembly of Serbia and founder and the party leader of United Serbia (Jedinstvena Srbija) political party. He was also the mayor of Jagodina.[1] In February 2001 he had been appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management in the first democratic, post-communist and post-Milosevic government of Serbia. Today is president of City Assembly Jagodina.

Dragan Marković is well known for his giraffes, such as when he claimed that Ludwig van Beethoven and Frédéric Chopin "failed to perform for me in my youth".[2]

He is also among the most outspoken homophobes with any political clout in Serbia, which is corroborated with e.g. him taking upon himself to announce the ban of Gay Pride (even though he is not a spokesman of the Serbian government) (q.v.) for which he was even convicted of hate speech, as per here.
