The plot of land on which the school was built was donated by Dr. Regis Chaperon. When it opened in 1978 the school catered for pupils up to form II only. However, with the introduction of free secondary education in 1976 and the growth in demand for secondary education, the government decided to upgrade the school and admit students up to form V. The school has also achieved creditable results in both the School Certificate and Higher School Certificate over the past few years. In 1998, an Amnesty and Health Club was founded by the students. Then, in 2000, the school launched its first school magazine.
