Dr. Lydia T. Wright School of Excellence is an elementary school serving the East Side of Buffalo, New York. located at 106 Appenheimer Street and serves Grades PreK through 8. The current principal is Dr. Tonya Chavers, and the current assistant principals are Mr. Cameron Hall and Ms. Carolyn Flattery.
History
The school opened in 1961. It previously was known as "Fillmore Middle School" and later "Campus East School" in 1977. It was renamed in 2000 for Dr. Lydia Wright, the first African-American pediatrician in Buffalo and member of the Buffalo Board of Education[2]
