Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School (est. 2006) is a public high school which opened in the Fall of 2006. Wise was constructed to relieve overcrowding in several Southern-area high schools, mainly Frederick Douglass High School. The school was constructed to become the largest high school in the State of Maryland, with a square footage of 434,600 sq. ft. The school also has the distinction of featuring the largest gymnasium of any non-university school in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area, with a capacity to seat up to 5,000 spectators. The state-of-the-art gymnasium also features an indoor track. The school has a total student capacity of 2,600. The school displaced Northwestern High School, another county school, as the largest high school in Maryland, although it's notable that Northwestern has a higher total student capacity. Wise hosts a Technical Academy signature program.
The principal at Wise is Charoscar Coleman.
