Douglas Ousterhout

Douglas K. Ousterhout, MD, DDS, is a craniofacial surgeon with a practice in San Francisco, CA, USA.[1][2] He offers facial feminization surgery (for trans women,) facial masculinization surgery (for trans men,) and a variety of aesthetic craniofacial and maxilliofacial procedures.[3]

His specialty is facial feminization surgery for trans women, and he is widely considered the foremost facial feminization surgeon in the United States.[4] He has written a number of books about techniques he pioneered in the practice of facial feminization surgery as well as other craniofacial and maxillofacial surgeries.[5][6][7] Though it varies for each patient, Ousterhout's approach is comprehensive of the entire face and typically includes advancing the hairline, making the forehead smaller and rounder, reducing the brow ridge, shortening and narrowing the nose, shortening the upper lip, shortening the chin, narrowing the jaw and reducing the laryngeal prominence. The procedures are often done all at once in a full day of surgery.
