Dorking Wanderers F.C. are a football club based in Dorking, Surrey, England. The club is affiliated to the Surrey County Football Association.[1] They are currently members of Division One of the Sussex County Football League

History

The club was formed in 1999 and started playing in the Crawley and District Football League.[2] After their first season in the Crawley league they switched to the West Sussex Football League and immediately won the Division Four championship.[3] The club made further progress the following season when they finished as runners-up in Division Three gaining promotion to Division Two.[3] The club climbed the league ladder again two seasons later in the 2003–04 campaign when they finished as champions of Division Two.[3] The 2005–06 season saw the club clinch promotion to the top division of the West Sussex league when they finished third in Division one.[3]

In their second season in the Premier Division the club finished as champions and gained promotion to Division Three of the Sussex County Football League.[3] The promotion was made possible by the club moving to their current home of West Humble Playing Field, during the successful 2006–07 campaign.[3]

The club spent the next four seasons in Division Three of the County League, and gained promotion as champions at the end of the 2010–11 campaign.[4] The next season saw the club finish third and qualify for promotion to Division One, however the league denied them entry to the division as their ground was considered not suitable for that division.[5] However the club appealed against this decision to the F.A., and they overruled the decision after an independent ground grading visit confirmed that the ground reached the necessary standards for Division One football.[6]

Ground

Dorking Wanderers play their home games at Westhumble Playing Fields, London Road, Dorking, Surrey, RH5 6DB.

The club moved to the ground in 2007, and floodlights were installed in 2012.[2]
